The region of El Bierzo enjoys a special microclimate, resulting from the combination of Atlantic and Mediterranean climates, that allows an excellent production of fruits and vegetables and also a wonderful variety of wines, including those who are enrolled in the Bierzo Appellation (C.R.D.O. Bierzo).

In El Bierzo you can enjoy an emerging rural tourism based on its beautiful natural landscapes as the Ancares, or Las Médulas, a gold mine carried out by the Romans and now declared a World Heritage Site, as well as the Camino de Santiago (St. James’ Way ), one of the most important Christian pilgrimages.
In El Bierzo we can find some of the most important samples of art as the Mozarabic church of Santiago de Peñalba and the one in Santo Tomas de las Ollas. We also can find among its broad historical and artistic heritage samples of all important artistic periods, Romanic, Gothic, Baroque,…
To its wealthy landscape and its cultural heritage we have to add the important gastronomic tradition in El Bierzo. The gastronomy is based in products of the land, including a great variety of vegetables and “El Botillo” as an ambassador of excellence.
