Tradition and modernity go hand in hand at Bodega del Abad

In Bodega del Abad we are sure that, in order to achieve the most quality wines, winemaking tradition and modernity have to go hand in hand. We are faithful to our origins, we respect the terroir in which the vines grow, but we also know that innovation and evolution are essentials to our winemaking for our white and red Denominación de Origen Bierzo wines.

On one hand, taking into account the most traditional side, as you know our winery is located in the heart of land known as olla berciana, in the village of Carracedelo, a wine-growing area located in the northwest of the Iberian Peninsula. Our monovarietal wines are made with the red mencia and White godello, indiginus varietys of this region traditionally linked to viticulture, all of them under Bierzo appellation.

But, in addition, our viticulture is also based on those processes that we have known for so many years. We take care of all the cultural practices of the vineyard, the processes, the pruning and the yields that guarantee us the highest quality after the harvest. Only then our wines are born with essence and character so marked by the land from which they come.

Wines that ferment and age next to a 10th century monastery, but with the most current oenological techniques. Taking all that into account, we guarantee the highest quality of our reds and whites, as well as the grapes with which we make them.

We have the most advanced facilities in our winery, which allow us to streamline processes, improve winery conditions and, also, let us obtain the highest quality in all our references. The practices used in the vineyards, fermentation and aging processes and a plots selection allow us to be dierent in our wine-design. Something that we only achieve with that union of tradition and modernity that characterizes us.
