Bodega del Abad is a winery in El Bierzo with history, located in the heart of the Bierzo region, in the town of Carracedelo, a privileged wine-growing area in the northwest of the Iberian Peninsula.
From this environment marked by tradition, we work with the red Mencía and the white Godello, native varieties deeply linked to the wine-growing tradition of El Bierzo, to produce single-varietal wines that express the character of the terroir.
All our wines are protected by the Bierzo Designation of Origin, a reflection of a unique origin and identity.

Because Bodega del Abad is not just the name of a winery. It is a way of vindicating the history, the present and the future of El Bierzo linked to the cultivation of vines.
Our history of winemaking
HISTORY OF A PASSION
2000
Planting the vineyard
It all began when the family decided to plant its own vineyard in one of the most privileged areas of El Bierzo, in Valtuille de Arriba. This is how about 20 hectares of vineyards carefully dedicated to the Mencía and Godello varieties, the native jewels of this land, were born.
2003
Inauguration of the winery
With the fruit of that dream growing among young vines, in 2003 the winery was officially inaugurated, equipped with the best technological facilities. Located in Carracedelo, El Bierzo. A space conceived to unite tradition and modernity, where each wine could express the essence of the terroir.
2004
First
Recognition
Just one year later, the first great recognition arrived: the prestigious Zarcillo de Oro, awarded to the Abad Dom Bueno 2003 Mencía wine, consolidating the winery as a benchmark of quality and character in the designation.
2010
New Stage
A new stage opened up with the arrival of one of the daughters of the founding family, who took over the management, bringing a fresh, innovative and deeply respectful approach to the inherited tradition.
2025
25th Anniversary
The winery celebrates its anniversary, honoring twenty-five years of history with the creation of a very special wine: an exceptional and brilliant oxidative Godello, a symbol of everything that this land, its people and its time have been able to build with effort and passion.
