Vineyards of El Bierzo
Majestic
25 hectares of Mencía and Godello vineyards in El Bierzo
Located in the most privileged area for vine cultivation in all of El Bierzo, our vineyards are located in the upper area of Valtuille de Arriba and Villafranca del Bierzo.
The vines in our vineyards of El Bierzo are set on steeply sloping terrains, at different altitudes, on soils formed by a complex mixture of fine elements, quartzites, and slates. From this environment, wines are born with an essence and character deeply linked to the land from which they come, in the heart of the natural paradise of El Bierzo.
The terroir is defined by the presence of slate, clay, and pebbles, soils that provide a marked minerality and that are reflected in the personality and expression of the Mencía and Godello grapes, authentic emblems of our vineyards.

The terroir
We seek to respect the heterogeneity of the soils, highlighting the essence of the terroir and managing each plant differently to ensure that the grapes express the identity of their origin, in addition to the framework of El Bierzo as a witness to history.
Orography
The tortuous orography among the mountains of El Bierzo means that the region enjoys a very peculiar microclimate, temperate and sub-humid, determined by the association of Atlantic and Mediterranean influence with milder temperatures than in the bordering areas and without extreme peaks or late frosts.

Responsible viticulture
The criteria of responsible viticulture are the basis of the elaboration in Bodega del Abad, taking care of all the cultural practices of the vine, the processes, the prunings and the yields that guarantee us the highest quality after the maturation of the grape.

Sustainability
Total commitment to the people, the place, the culture, and the environment. A sign of constant challenge and growth with the aim of showcasing the unique and natural expression of each plot, in every harvest and in every wine.
