Víctor Alonso Monge, the Deputy Delegate for the Economy, Tourism, and Personnel Area, announced yesterday afternoon the jury’s decision for the fourth edition of the oenological competition “The Museum’s Wine,” which this year coincides with the 15th Anniversary of the Provincial Wine Museum, part of the Valladolid Provincial Council.
After a full day of tasting, the jury, chaired by Pablo Martín, president of the Spanish Association of Sommeliers, decided that Carracedo Tinto Mencía 2013 from Bodega del Abad (D.O. Bierzo) is the winner of the 2015 Museum Wine competition. The Wine Museum will acquire 3,000 bottles of the award-winning wine, which will be its representative wine for the next two years.
The competition jury also decided to award two commendations to Prado Rey Rosado Fermentado en Barrica 2013 from Bodegas Real Sitio de Ventosilla (D.O. Ribera del Duero) and Yllera Verdejo 2014 vendimia nocturna, as the best rosé and white wines, respectively. The Wine Museum will acquire 500 bottles of each of the two wines that received these commendations.
185 wines from all Designations of Origin in Castilla y León were submitted to the competition, representing a 12% increase compared to the previous edition. The President of the Provincial Council will present the awards at an official ceremony to be held at the Provincial Wine Museum in Peñafiel in the near future.
