Carracedo

This is the iconic Bodega del Abad wine, for its unmatched expression of the true mencía grape of El Bierzo and also its name, celebrating the Monastery of Carracedo, located by the winery. It is the product of a blend of grapes from three unique plots with very special soils, with 85-year-old goblet-pruned vines grown at an altitude of 650 m in Valtuille de Arriba. Stony soil with slate, quartzite and other minerals. Manual harvesting in crates and subsequent sorting at the winery. The output of each plot is pressed and matured separately, always respecting each one’s particular contribution. Maceration and fermentation at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks. Ageing for twelve months in medium-toast French oak barrels.

A full-bodied, smooth wine with a lingering finish. Great character and structure..
