We are always proud to receive awards, mentions, medals, or high scores in various national and international competitions or publications. However, on this occasion, we must highlight the month of April as a period in which Bodega del Abad shone especially brightly. We are pleased to share with you on our blog the reasons why last April brought us one joy after another.
When it comes to our wines, three national publications highlighted them this month. First, the renowned magazine specialising in wine and gastronomy Sobremesa rated our Tesín de la Campana as “a great wine, a safe bet”. Not only that: its score placed us among the Top 3 in its selection of wines chosen within the Bierzo Designation of Origin.
We move from Sobremesa to another leading name in the world of wine: Verema. This digital outlet included only one DO Bierzo wine in its selection for April. Do you know which one? The Abad Dom Bueno Godello Esencia 2016 from Bodega del Abad. Without a doubt, it is a source of pride that a publication such as Verema has chosen us for its carefully curated selection.
In addition, our Abad Dom Bueno Godello Esencia was chosen by the national digital newspaper ESdiario as one of Spain’s three benchmark white wines. “It combines the complexity contributed by Godello with the body and structure that come from ageing in French oak, making this a unique white wine,” they noted in their article.
On the other hand, closing the chapter on our wines but, of course, without leaving Bodega del Abad, April also brought a very special recognition for our entire team. One of the leading internet portals in the wine sector, VinObjetivo, included Adriana Ulibarri, head of our winery, among its #MujeresVinobjetivo, “essential women of the year” in the world of Spanish wine.

And if April has been a month of success, the truth is that May is starting in the best possible way. Why? This month, two of our wines have been awarded at the prestigious International Wine Challenge. Tesín de la Campana Mencía has received a silver medal and, in turn, Abad Dom Bueno Godello has obtained a bronze medal.
All of these are recognitions of our effort and work—an encouragement that motivates us to continue working to offer you the finest wines in the DO Bierzo. Thank you very much!
