At Bodega del Abad, we continue to receive accolades that fill us with pride. Proof of this is the silver medal awarded to us in the latest edition of the highly prestigious Bacchus International Wine Competition.
Specifically, our wine Abad Dom Bueno Godello was the one that captivated the jury of this renowned competition, which decided to award it a silver medal. It is worth noting that the Bacchus International Competition is one of the most important in the sector, which makes this medal even more special for Bodega del Abad.
The truth is that Abad Dom Bueno Godello—a fresh, flavoursome and well-balanced white, made from 100% Godello grapes from our vineyards—is being recognised internationally in different competitions. For example, as we told you on our blog, it was awarded a gold medal at the International Awards Virtus Competition. In addition, the prestigious critic James Suckling rated it 92 points, an excellent score.
Bacchus International Wine Competition
Although you have surely already heard of the Bacchus awards, due to their relevance and worldwide renown, it is also worth noting that this wine event is the only international wine competition in Spain that belongs to the World Federation of Major International Wine and Spirits Competitions. Furthermore, it is recognised by both the International Organisation of Vine and Wine and Spain’s Ministry of Agriculture, Food and the Environment.
To compile its list of winners, the more than one hundred expert tasters (specialised journalists, sommeliers, oenologists, Masters of Wine, Masters of Sommelier…) who make up the jury meet over four days, during which they taste different wines, assess them and award the appropriate scores based on strict criteria.
All of this makes the Bacchus International Wine Competition one of the most important in the sector, which is why its silver medal for Bodega del Abad is especially exciting for us, as well as a boost to continue pursuing the highest quality in our wines.
